The Naked Grouse Cocktail Competition is all about finding a bartender who can translate their real, authentic self into a cocktail. It’s one of the hardest things a bartender can do, which is why the winner of the competition gets such a remarkable grand prize: three action-packed and unforgettable days in Philadelphia.
Denver’s Cheyenne Haggard was the winner this year, thanks to her inventive and irresistible cocktail, Seeking the Rose. The recipe is inspired by Haggard’s passion for hunting down wildflowers and roses around Colorado. Now that search has taken her all the way to Philadelphia.
Cheyenne Haggard arrives in Philadelphia for an unforgettable three days.
But it’s not like Naked Grouse just gave Haggard a plane ticket and a hotel reservation. Brand ambassador Christal Watson was waiting for her at the airport, ready to take the Denver bartender on the ultimate “Live Naked” experience in Philly.
The two of them hit it off immediately, joining a group of local bartenders—many of whom competed in the Philadelphia leg of the Naked Grouse Cocktail Competition—for drinks and salsa dancing. Just hours into her trip to Philadelphia, Haggard had the type of “Naked” moment that Naked Grouse aims to inspire.
Haggard enjoys an evening of salsa dancing.
“I’m usually shy about dancing and not very good at it, but a random guy asked me to dance and I did,” Haggard said, reflecting on the first night of the trip. “I just remember smiling from ear to ear and not really caring who saw or who took pictures. I’m sure there are videos of it, and I’m sure I look ridiculous. But it was a real moment and very authentic.”
The bar was set high after the fun of the first night. But Watson had a couple of exciting activities planned for the following day. The first was checking out an indoor skydiving facility, followed by attending a jaw-dropping Cirque du Soleil show, which ended up being quite a highlight.
“My favorite event, hands-down, was going to see Cirque du Soleil,” Haggard said. “I think I cried at least three times during the show.”

Still, the fun continued with a spa visit, live music in Fairmount Park and an evening at SPiN Philadelphia, a lively nightclub where you can both dance and play ping-pong.
At the end of the trip, Cheyenne Haggard was feeling more comfortable than ever about her bartending talent. She said, “Winning this competition has given me the confidence to go forward with my own style and skills.”
It’s safe to say that Haggard is happy she entered the Naked Grouse Cocktail Competition.
