Macallan is no stranger to smashing records for pricey whiskey. Just this year a pair of rare Macallan 1962 whiskies sold for a record $1.2 million, making each bottle the most expensive bottle ever sold. And that was only to break the previous record for most expensive bottle sold, which they already held.

The Scotch brand announced this week they’re releasing the oldest single malt they’ve ever debuted. The 72-year-old whiskey is 42-percent ABV and will be bottled in what they’re calling The Genesis Decanter. The 700-milliliter custom crystal container and presentation case are said to be inspired by the new distillery and visitor center and will be released in August 2018.

“For its seventy-two years of maturation, the deceptively light colour hints that this is not an ordinary single malt. Reminiscent of a time gone by, it carries an exquisite balance of strong, sweet oak with the peaty spirit shaping its refined character,” said Nick Savage, The Macallan Master Distiller.

But don’t head to the bank just yet. The distillery will only release 600 decanters worldwide. Guess we’ll just keep dreaming.
