It all started with a name change.
The company formerly known as Dunkin’ Donuts announced in September it would be dropping the “Donuts” from its name in order to reposition itself as a beverage-first company focusing on coffees, teas, specialty beverages and to-go food (including, of course, doughnuts).
Now Dunkin’ is introducing an adults-only beverage, too. The company announced it has released a Dunkin’ Coffee Porter in collaboration with Harpoon Brewery, another staple Boston brand. The beer is available at select retail locations across the eastern U.S.
The malty beer is said to have a smooth mouthfeel with aromas of espresso and dark chocolate and weighs in at 6 percent ABV. Dunkin’ U.S. chief marketing officer Tony Weisman said the company’s loyal fans, “who start their busy day with a cup of Dunkin’ coffee and end it by enjoying one of Harpoon’s famous craft beers,” are the inspiration for Dunkin’ Coffee Porter.
If there are two things New Englanders enjoy drinking, it’s Dunkin’ and Harpoon. Together? This one could be a hit.
