Drunk Monkey Threatens Bar with a Knife

In Brazil, one angry drunk got up to more than the usual monkey business at a local bar.

According to a report from UPI, bar patrons in the northeastern Brazilian town of Patos called the authorities to disarm a belligerent monkey. The animal, dubbed Chico, had downed a glass of rum, broken the bottle, then climbed on the roof with a 12-inch machete, threatening the bar’s male patrons but leaving the women unmolested.

The caption on the YouTube video reads: “A rather surprising case for the Patos City 4th Battalion Military Firefighters. The soldiers were called to catch a monkey which had gotten ahold of a knife!” The YouTube poster, Jozivan Antero, goes on to recount that the firefighters successfully disarmed the monkey.

News reports indicate that Chico was released back to the forest but was later re-apprehended after threatening another group of locals.
