The Treasury, San Francisco’s FiDi bar with a bank-vault-inspired interior, is known as much for its fiery cocktails as its lively atmosphere. Its commanding design blends steampunk with industrial chic, almost like a well-groomed Burning Man oasis.
Signature cocktails include the Bamboozled, made with pommeau de Normandie, amontillado sherry and bitters; the Shattered Ceiling, made with vodka, blood orange, Manzanilla sherry, sage and honey; and the AEW, made with I.W. Harper bourbon, grapefruit, muscovado (unrefined sugar) and basil. If you’re lucky, the bartenders will be experimenting with flavored ice cubes that change both the taste and color of the drink as they melt, adding temporality as a factor in the flavor profile.

While it may sound intimidating, The Treasury remains inviting. “Even though we’re in the heart of the Financial District and we’re serious about serving top-quality drinks and food, we pride ourselves on being totally unpretentious,” says lead bartender Tristen De Foy Phillippart. “We’re here to show our guests a good time.” Prior to joining The Treasury, he managed the bar at San Francisco’s E&O Kitchen and Bar for nine years.
Since nothing complements an indulgent, carefully crafted cocktail better than a killer playlist, we asked Tristen for the top 10 tracks on heavy rotation at The Treasury.
