A Look Back at the First Year of Bar Shift | Partner Tip

This year, Bar Shift sent bartenders packing.

The jet-setting Liquor.com program organized nine bar swaps between bartenders from different cities. Professional drinks slingers left their bars to work a shift at a top drinking destination far from home: in New York and Miami, New Orleans, Mexico City and many other points between.

To kick off the series, Alex Renshaw of Chicago’s Drumbar flew south to shake at Miami’s Broken Shaker, and Gui Jaroschy of the Broken Shaker picked up a shift at Drumbar.

Back in the spring, Enzo Cangemi of Manhattan’s Bowery Hotel headed west to work at The Spare Room inside Los Angeles’ Roosevelt Hotel, alongside Yael Vengroff.

And come summer, Daniel Victory of New Orleans’ Victory headed north to take a shift behind the stick at Harlem’s 67 Orange Street, where he shook signature Bacardí cocktails with host bartender Karl Franz. The first round of Bar Shifts concluded with Vince Toscano, of San Francisco’s Rye, at New York City’s Seamstress, alongside Pamela Wiznitzer.

In total, 15 bartenders participated in Bar Shift events in nine cities, creating more than 30 signature drinks (check out the slideshow to see what they mixed up) and picking up lots of tricks and skills from fellow bartenders. Check out the highlights, photos and videos from Bar Shift’s first year, and get prepared for the program’s second round.

There’s never been a more delicious exchange program.
