What’s better than Oreo cookies? Oreos that have been, shall we say, “enhanced” with booze. Think Jell-O shots but much more delicious.
This easy recipe lets you replace the sandwich cookies’ standard filling with a version flavored with herbal green Chartreuse. That most delectable of liqueurs, distilled by Carthusian monks in the French Alps, is as close to the actual nectar of the gods as anything can possibly get, and it will elevate your cookies to heavenly heights. The liqueur is flavored with peppermint, plus about 130 other botanical ingredients, so expect these boozy cookies to taste similar to mint Oreos but much more complex. It’s also a whopping 55% alcohol (most spirits weigh in at about 40%), so if you eat enough of these, you might indeed find yourself conversing with deities.
Ingredients
-
1 box instant vanilla pudding mix
-
2/3 cup whole milk, chilled
-
3 ounces green Chartreuse
-
15 original chocolate Oreo sandwich cookies
Steps
-
Add the milk and Chartreuse into a medium bowl.
-
Add the pudding mix and beat for 2 minutes with a handheld electric mixer.
-
Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to set.
-
While the mixture chills, twist apart the cookies, removing and discarding the filling.
-
When the mixture has set firm, spread about a tablespoon of pudding onto each cookie half and top with another cookie half.
-
Chill again to set before serving.
