Established in 2006 as a liquid homage to the Depression-era street photographer, this is (technically) the city’s premiere craft cocktail bar. But it’s best not to mention the word craft here, or mixology either. Weegee’s is, first and foremost, a neighborhood bar with good cocktails (bonus: doubles are standard), a great beer selection and a few wines nobody ever orders.
THE DRINK TO DRINK: The Wisconsin Old Fashioned. Like the menu says, “If you have to ask, you’ll never know.”
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: Go for the shuffleboard and the gorgeous vintage bar; stay for the hops-adorned patio and the jazz-only soundtrack.
