Named after one of Brooklyn’s founders, Cornelius Van Brunt, and a main thoroughfare in the neighborhood of Red Hook, this stillhouse has been up and running since 2012. Offering grappa, moonshine, rum and four types of whiskey, the distillery sources ingredients from upstate New York farmers and maintains the mantra that a product made by familiar hands will always taste better than its mass-manufactured counterparts.
DON'T MISS THESE SPIRITS: Van Brunt's first product, Due North Rum, is still one of its finest, made with organic, unprocessed Himalayan sugar. Try the grappa made with Red Hook Winery grapes, or one of the four varieties of whiskey: American, Single Malt, Bourbon and Rye.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: The Stillhouse tasting room is open every weekend from 1p.m.-6p.m. Stop by for a cocktail anytime, or book a tour in advance for the full experience.
