A sparse, little exposed-brick room, The Whistler is focused squarely on its balanced cocktails, served at impressively high volumes on a nightly basis. Opened by Billy Helmkamp and Robert Brenner in 2008, it hosts live music and DJs, and its storefront “gallery” window refreshes monthly.
THE DRINK TO DRINK: Depends. There is no fixed menu, so originals and throwbacks rotate regularly. Because they start at $6, you can afford to try a few.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: Due to its small size, the space gets crowded rather quickly. And there’s almost always a line on weekend nights.
