The timeless hotel bar is always an attractive den to roost, especially when the spot is as good looking as the Vine, filled with books, outdoor perches and a fashionable chandelier. Bartenders Katie Stipe and Yana Volfson collaborated on the drinks menu, which is dominated by classics with a spin. After a hibiscus-spiked French 75, for example, spring for the Smokin’ Margarita with fennel pollen-citrus salt.
THE DRINK TO DRINK:
Few classics are associated with vodka, but here Stipe and Volfson give the spirit the spotlight thanks to a Moscow Mule with Russian Standard, lime, ginger and velvet falernum, as well as a Vesper in which Absolut Elyx shares the bill with Beefeater gin, Lillet Blanc and bergamot. A weekend-appropriate Bloody Mary is laden with horseradish.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:
Chef Laurent Tourondel, formerly of BLT fame, has quite the pedigree. Make sure booze is accompanied by the likes of fried calamari with Calabrian chile-pepper aioli and pasta draped in hearty veal shoulder Bolognese.
