Barman Ali Tahsini opened The Double Standard in downtown Oakland in March 2015, and the bar is swiftly becoming a neighborhood hangout thanks to a friendly vibe, chill patio surrounded by giant redwoods and well-crafted cocktails. One can feel the hand-built love in the airy space, serving quality tap cocktails (classics like a Moscow Mule and a Whiskey Buck) and creative house drinks. Watch for food pop-ups in the back yard.

This cocktail-on-draft knows how to make blue curaçao appealing. The Curry Championship Cocktail is a vivid blue from that intense liqueur, which is layered with vodka, lemon and pineapple-curry syrup.
