The Buena Vista

The Buena Vista

Appears in 1 Collection

First opening as a saloon in 1916, the Buena Vista is best known for popularizing Irish coffee in the 1950s—and, supposedly, the recipe remains unchanged today.

Sure, you could order something else. But this is still the place for a properly old-school Irish coffee, and they claim to serve up to 2,000 of them a day.

So they still have the amazing fried potatoes I used to love and the rich patronage of people from all over the world sitting at the same tables together? What a great experience. I'm there every time I'm in San Francisco.
