Located in the back of one of the French Quarter’s greatest dive bars, Erin Rose, and completely without pretense, Killer Poboys serves high-end, inventive poboys that have very little in common with the city’s more traditional, sloppy roast beef variety. With stacks of meat and cheese sandwiched between crackly banh mi–style bread and garnished with Vietnamese-influenced accoutrements, Killer Poboys turns drunk food into an art form. There’s a poboy for every palate, from pork belly to vegan-appropriate roasted sweet potato, which comes with black-eyed–pea-and-pecan spread and pickled shallots and greens. Prices hover around $10.
