A part of Charles Phan’s restaurant group, Hard Water offers one of the best American whiskey collections in the world. That’s thanks to Erik Adkins, who has compiled a superlative collection of hundreds of whiskies. It’s a list where extinct rarities like A.H. Hirsch 16-Year Reserve and Parker’s Heritage Golden Anniversary (a five-decade blend of bourbons from one of the country’s great distillers) co-exist alongside rare house barrels from distillers like St. George, Willett, Four Roses and Elijah Craig.

If you’re not drinking some rarity neat or a sampling a themed whiskey flight, New Orleans’ cocktail classics abound, from a Cocktail a la Louisiane to a Mint Julep. Try the Dixie Cocktail: Old Forester bonded bourbon, gum syrup, orange curaçao, Angostura Bitters and crème de menthe.
