Still waiting to go on your epic Cuban adventure? This mambo-loving bar may be located in New York City, but while you’re there it feels like a Caribbean vacation. Though its name literally means “a hundred fires” in Spanish, this East Village cocktail bar and restaurant is actually named for a Cuban village known for growing sugarcane. It’s the ideal name for a bar dedicated to making fantastic rum drinks, from classics like the Daiquiri to original concoctions like the rum-and-Fernet Message in a Bottle or the absinthe-spiked Night Tripper.
THE DRINK TO DRINK:
When you’re channeling the spirit of the Caribbean, try the ultra refreshing rum-based Tamarind Sour or go big with one of eight different rum flights.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:
Cienfuegos is located directly above another fantastic craft cocktail bar, Amor y Amargo. Stop at the amaro-focused bar for another great drink downstairs.
