Years in the making, Rick Bayless’ cervecería/taquería lives up to the hype. Seats at the bar have a front-row view of the tanks, where a half-dozen New World interpretations of classic European-style drafts (pilsners, lagers, weissbier, etc.) are tapped. The drinks menu is rounded out by a handful of guest brews, two cocktails and a couple of wine options. Across the room, the taquería counter serves DIY taco plates that would be a terrible idea if they weren’t Bayless-grade delicious.
THE DRINK TO DRINK: A pint of Winnow, an American-style porter made with cocoa bean husks from sister restaurant Xoco’s chocolate program
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: Unlike the adjacent Leña Brava, Cruz Blanca is first-come, first-served—no reservations. Get cozy at the communal tables and keep your tab open.
