Despite the fact that it’s preceded by its reputation—as the backdrop to John Belushi’s “Cheezborger, Cheezborger, Cheezborger” SNL sketch and as a scapegoat (no pun intended) for the infamous Cubs Curse—Billy Goat is still a decent place to get a drink. Opened in 1934 and moved to its present location 30 years later, it’s an institution worth visiting for the memorabilia alone.
THE DRINK TO DRINK:A pint of beer. Or a well G&T if you’re feeling fancy.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: The bar is located on lower Michigan Avenue, down the steps from the Tribune Building. Look for the neon, or follow your nose.
