AÑEJO

AÑEJO

Clad in brightly-colored Day of the Dead murals, Añejo is an oasis of agave spirits in Hell’s Kitchen. The tequila menu is formidable, offering dozens of blanco, reposado, añejo and extra añejo bottles, all available with a side of Sangrita. All of the tequilas are grouped according to the two regions in which they’re produced: the highlands and the valley of Jalisco. Mezcal is equally well represented here, with a selection of mezcals that include tiny producers in Oaxaca and some made from wild species of agave that have been harvested by hand. Sotol, the lesser-known Chihuahuan spirit made from the Dasilyrion plant, is also available for those seeking a new adventure.

THE DRINK TO DRINK:
Ask about the cocktail of the week or try the Mexican Firing Squad, made with Tapatio Reposado, grenadine, fresh lime and spiced salt. Heat seekers take note: Any cocktail can be spiced up with the addition of chile de árbol.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:
With seven flights to choose from, agave lovers can discover rare and aged expressions not available anywhere else. That includes the El Jefe flight featuring extremely unique tequilas from Herradura, Patron and Rey Sol.
