A Negroni is a built cocktail but this is not a Negroni it is a grapefruit Negroni and the basic rules say to shake cocktails that contain fruit juice. Just like you don't shake Bourbon but if you are making a Whiskey Sour you shake it, with or without an egg white. And if you invent and drink and name it, you can make up whatever rules you want.

"Shake cocktails when they include fruit juices, cream liqueurs, simple syrup, sour mix, egg, dairy or any other thick or flavorful mixers."

Never shake a Negroni but shake cocktails that contains fresh citrus such as grapefruit. If you are going to squeeze grapefruit in it, it is not a Negroni any more than orange juice and vodka is a martini so the never shake a Negroni rules does not apply to Grapefruit Negroni, it is a different drink.

Even if you've never tended a bar (like a regular mixology hobbyist) you must know that the Negroni is a built cocktail. In an old fashioned glass. Period.

Miss Casey—have you actually ever tended bar?

NEVER shake a Negroni. This is goofy.
