Liquor.com, the leading digital media platform focused on mixology, spirits and the lifestyle of cocktail culture, has won a 2013 James Beard Award for its How to Cocktail videos, a series of entertaining drink-focused segments starring some of the biggest names in bartending.
The videos were honored at the prestigious James Beard Book, Broadcast & Journalism Awards ceremony on May 3. The How to Cocktail series took home the award for Video Webcast, Fixed Location and/or Instructional, a new category introduced for the first time this year. The How to Cocktail series includes 28 videos on everything from classics like the Martini, the Cosmopolitan and the Old Fashioned to how to serve absinthe in the traditional style, as well as punches and shot pairings, such as the Mexican-style Sangrita. The videos are hosted by master mixologists from around the country, including Liquor.com advisory board members Dushan Zaric, Simon Ford and Jacques Bezuidenhout.
The latest entry in the How to Cocktail series launched last week, featuring top San Francisco bartender Erik Adkins crafting the classic Sazerac. More How to Cocktail videos starring Adkins and H. Joseph Ehrmann, another Bay Area mixologist and Liquor.com advisory board member, will be released in the coming weeks.
