You can tell a lot about a person by their search history, and 2016 proved to be a tipsy year for all of us. From the excitement over new boozy emojis to hilarious election-inspired cocktails, it’s hard to deny that the internet loved a good cocktail in 2016. But which cocktails proved the most popular? Google can answer that question.

By studying an aggregation of trillions of this year’s search terms, Google used an algorithm that compared the percentage increase in searches for specific terms over the past 11.5 months to find the most-sought queries. To create Year in Search 2016, the creators used data from Google Trends, then filtered out repeat queries to build lists that best reflect the spirit of the times. According to the data, beer and cocktails reigned supreme on the search engine over the past year.

Budweiser America was the most popular beer-related search of the year, reflecting the novelty of the brand’s May announcement that it would be changing its name in honor of the Fourth of July, the Olympics and the presidential election. Runners-up included Coors, Tree House Brewing, Delirium Tremens beer, Snake Venom beer, Trillium brewery, India pale ale, Tired Hands Brewing, Goose Island and Maui Brewing Company.

On the mixed-drink side, fruity libations and classic cocktails ruled. Sangria was the most-Googled cocktail of 2016, with Strawberry Daiquiri, Sex on the Beach, Mojito and Mimosa also ranking in the top 10. Old standbys like the Martini, Old Fashioned, Hot Toddy, Rusty Nail and White Russian also dominated internet queries.
