Been a fan since 1956 when I was in The Corps exercising off Purteo Rico. Have about 25 bottles from all over the world. Working my way thru them.

Rum is a delightful drink, especially when mixed with fruit juice. It is milder than whisky or vodka, and can be sipped on the rocks in moderation. Although I have never had thoughts of being a pirate, I prefer to have a nice rum drink in the company of my parrot, who also likes a sip now and then. Neither one of us has ever had any deleterious from the occasional rum and fruit juice.

Rum is not only my favorite liquor but it's also a favorite dessert ingredient.. I like to drink rum and coke while I make my desserts..

Your first point is a little understated - unadulterated rum should not be sweet, sugar does not make it past the distillation process, and sweetness is not produced by aging in wood. Many rums are sweetened before bottling to make them more appealing to most peoples' palates.

My personal journey into American Made Rums has shown me a re-emergence of great rum, a rum based in the original and with flavor that out rivals many more famous....

Well said. Rum can no longer be considered ordinary or common. Rum is fascinating and intriguing, representing a wide range of styles and variations from a myriad of territories. Rum is romantic, evocative, comforting, delicious and versatile, but most of all, rum is fun.
