A very happy Friday to you my friends. As of today at 4:30pm I’m officially on vacation! To me this means copious amounts of reading, sleeping in, and spending these hot days lazing by a pool. I’ve bethought myself to make this place a sort of an alternative to my old cocktail blog (you can find a link in my profile by the way 😉 – no more long posts, no more challenging photo shoots, no more Russian 🙂 But sometime they will intercross. I can’t help to share this definitely NOT a Martini – Carrot 43 Martini #Cocktail, which has gorgeous look and contains (I suppose) a lot of vitamins.
Carrot 43 Martini
- 45 ml Hendrick’s gin
- 20 ml Cointreau
- 30 ml fresh pressed orange juice
- 15 ml fresh pressed carrot juice
- 15 fresh pressed lemon juice
- 15 ml simple syrup
Shake all the ingredients in a shaker with plenty of ice. Strain into a cocktail glass, garnish with a cucumber slice. So sweet, orange-y gin sour with a peculiar vegetable note. Can be recommended for summer.
Brava Doble: Cana Brava Rum from the homies at 86 Co, Grapefruit Cordial, Lime Juice, Maraschino.
The Whiskey Smash Although the original recipe is accredited to Jerry Thomas, (writer of 1862’s “The Bon Vivant’s Companion”) The Smash wasn’t distinguished as anything more than a variation on The Mint Julep until it was named by Harry Johnson in 1888. It’s a cocktail designed with warm weather in mind, being both refreshingly sour and satisfyingly boozy, so much so that it is often prescribed by barmen as a whiskey drink for people who don’t like whiskey. Lucky for us, we love whiskey, and we love The Whiskey Smash. Cheers!
- Half a lemon cut into quarters
- 4 mint leaves
- 1/4oz simple syrup
- 2oz Bourbon
Muddle lemon in shaker. Add mint, syrup, and bourbon. Shake and double strain over ice. Garnish with mint leaf.
