Don’t worry, you won’t have to search high and low to find this brand new bottle. Retail stores and bars from SoHo to the Upper East Side are now stocking Woodford Reserve Rye and using the bold whiskey in cocktails. At Meadowsweet, beverage director Jeremy Adona features Woodford Rye in The American Poet, a Nick and Nora-esque coupe of rye, sweet vermouth and rhubarb amaro complete with an absinthe rinse.
And the trend continues at The Fourth at The Hyatt Union Square, where bartender Jhonel Faelnar combines Woodford Rye with greenmarket maple syrup, yuzu and pineapple juice to create his St. Valentine’s Tipple. At Bathtub Gin, Jeffrey Dillon’s Ambassador Cocktail brings Woodford Rye together with Fernet Branca, Oloroso sherry, orgeat and a dash of absinthe—a perfect format for showcasing the rye’s inherent spice alongside a hint of tiki charm.
