Cocktails with Jacqueline M. Wood

St. Tropez, Ibiza, Mykonos—just the names of these exotic locales are enough to inspire a lurid daydream. And for the last couple months, actress Jacqueline M. Wood has been hitting exclusive hotspots around the Mediterranean for her new E! show, Party On!, which premieres on December 5. And we thought we had a pretty cushy job…

Wood traveled to eight destinations in all, which are each renowned for attracting royals and Hollywood stars, and boast vibrant nightlife scenes. While Hunter S. Thompson might have been the ideal candidate to host the series, Wood is certainly game for drinking with the locals and visiting celebs, and trying some extreme activities like race car driving, diving for sea urchin, bungee jumping and snake charming. That’s not to mention dancing in countless packed clubs, sampling a range of drinks and delicacies. “I’m a foodie, and I like to try different cocktails,” she says.

Best known for her Emmy-nominated role as Steffy Forrester on the long-running soap opera The Bold and The Beautiful, Wood was quick to say that her favorite drink she tried was Hierbas Ibicencas, the signature liquor of Ibiza. Like the locals, who kept plying her with glasses of it, she drank the liquorice-flavored alcohol neat. “It gives you a good feeling,” she says. “It warms the stomach.”

Another memorable cocktail was one she had on the Croatian island of Hvar in a restaurant overlooking the stunning Adriatic, which contained passion fruit and vodka. “Too good! I’m sure if you had three, you’d be on your ass,” she remembers.

For Wood, the adventures don’t end when the cameras shut off. She enjoys exploring new bars wherever she travels. “I love speakeasies,” she admits. And while you won’t find any Hierbas Ibicencas in her liquor cabinet at her home in LA, she often has some Grey Goose or Belvedere Vodka. “I usually stick to my vodka,” she says, but she’s a fan of all kinds of drinks, including Manhattans, Jack & Coke, absinthe and Patrón Silver on the rocks.

So tune in in a few weeks to see her journeys yourself! You just might be inspired to take your own trip.
