Learn To Make The Inside-Out Ice Sphere Cocktail
Posted on Feb 08, 2016
Instead of serving your next Manhattan on the rocks, serve it inside the rock.
Using $35 worth of tools purchased from Amazon, a homegrown cocktail genius demonstrates a whole new way to impress your booze-loving friends. Dubbed the Ice Ball Cocktail, it’s brought to you by Nick Fisher, who produces the fledgling Cocktail Chemistry YouTube channel, and it’s taking the Internet by storm.
Watch the video to see Nick’s step-by-step directions for creating this amazing drink.
Likewise, Xavier Herit was doing this at Daniel in NYC back in 2010 as well. You can find instructions in their cocktail books "Cocktails For Him & Her" (Sept 2011) - it's even on the cover of the book.
I agree Nick's video is super cool. The story just needed to be researched a bit more or at least updated.
I appreciate the way you have pulled off the technique and the creative use age of tools to make it accessible to making at home. Just frustrating to read articles that are misguided and assuming this is the first this has ever been done. Very little in the culinary / bar world is truly original and we are all riffing off of something or another.
Micah- I created this video and am in awe of the cocktail art you guys create at the Aviary. No article on this would be complete without a nod to your Old Fashioned in the rocks (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qqCfFfrhhs)
I've never been to Chicago but the Aviary will be my first stop when I get there :)
