Gadget Guide: Summer 2011

A leisurely summer weekend is the perfect time to test out some of the newest bar tools and accessories. The best part? Your experiments are, of course, safe to drink.

Bodum Bistro Electric Juicer ($50):

To make beverages for a party, you need to step up your game and use an electric juicer. We like the chic Bistro model from Bodum, which can handle oranges, grapefruits, lemons and limes. It even includes two matching glasses.

Polar Ice Tray ($40):

There’s nothing worse than ruining a well-made drink with bad ice. But you no longer have to worry about that problem with the ingenious Polar Ice Tray. The simple device filters out water’s impurities and air bubbles to create crystal-clear, cold, hard ice.

Perlini Cocktail Carbonating System ($199):

It’s not every day that you get to carbonate a cocktail. But you can now easily do it with the brand-new Perlini: Just add your ingredients and ice to the see-through shaker and then pressurize with a bit of CO2. Give it a shake and your bubbly concoction is ready to serve.

Petrossian Caviarcube ($45, 16 to 20 cubes):

Upgrade your Vodka Martini by garnishing it with a skewered white-sturgeon Caviarcube (pictured above). This mixological marvel contributes a delicious briny note and comes from New York institution Petrossian.

Oster Ice Shaving Blender ($130):

For classic hot-weather refreshers like the Mint Julep and the Mojito, you need crushed ice. But you can now fix these cocktails without breaking a sweat using Oster’s powerful Ice Shaving Blender, which efficiently pulverizes cubes.
